For online courses: these require you to have a capable computer to work on and a broadband internet connection. Most PC/Mac computers from the last 5 years will be fine but you can view our recommended detailed system requirements here. For on campus courses: laptops are provided for all junior courses, as well as Music, Unity, Creative Design & YouTube senior courses. Laptop rental is available for all other senior courses (£50 extra).

Available as part of the Fire Tech Unlimited membership, this highly entertaining self-guided project will teach you to build the craziest parkour planet in Minecraft you can imagine, complete with complex terrains, deadly traps and life-saving checkpoints. And you can become a part of the Maker Movement just by using Minecraft!
On this ambitious and creative project-led course, you will be thrown into an intensive mix of invention, gaming and engineering. You’ll finish with an impressive command of important computing concepts, practical making skills, and an enhanced understanding of how to expand and enjoy your Minecraft universe. You’ll use Java, Redstone and WorldPainter to customise your planet in ways you never thought possible.
Minecraft is an incredibly popular block-building game, the second most-downloaded game of all time. We’ll use the educational side of Minecraft to explore core computing concepts such as Computer-Aided Design, conditions, loops, and iteration. This is an independent learning course, with a focus on project work. Students will work independently at their own pace through learning materials and assignments, and should they need it they will be able to join a live Help Clinic to get answers to questions they may have.
You will need a laptop or desktop computer capable of running Minecraft Java Edition. As long as the computer is able to run Minecraft it should be able to run the other tools too. The tools in this course will work with the Minecraft Java Edition only, this can be on Mac OS or Windows, they will not work with the Windows 10 Edition, Pocket Edition, Pi Edition or the various Console versions.
